London has always been at the forefront of new and exciting designs.

One boutique that has made a huge impact with the funky London crowd and its celebrities is Utuianna.

One journalist described the look of Utuianna as ‘Biba reincarnated’. Those who remember the cult 60’s boutique Biba will know that this is a big accolade.  

Gabrielle and Nikki Mendoza are the sisters in partnership.

Gabrielle is the main designer whose main and obvious inspiration when designing her pieces is India. She first arrived in the exotic country when she was 17 - her entrepreneurial spirit hit her as soon as she laid eyes on the beautiful materials and colours that she saw there.

She and Nikki then went on to sell their designs in the most famous thrift market in London ‘Portobello - a market that is often frequented by designers and celebrities who are looking for something original.

The celebrity endorsements are important to any designer as their outfits are given a huge PR boost.  

Bollywood fashion has hit the world by storm but the designs at Utuianna are more than just a passing phase.

The colours and materials are the stars of the pieces with outfits that would suit any age and any size and therefore suit any woman - be as bold and glamorous as you like at night…..

Gabrielle and Nikki know how to make a timeless classic - they also know what women want and need. They are always looking at ways of updating their looks.

Forget the classic white and balck items, the sisters are convinced that every woman should have an Uitianna item in their wardrobe.

Although their feet are firmly on the ground, Gabrielle has a dream that one day she will be designing for people who may not be on this planet…
