London has long had a reputation for nurturing World famous fashion
talent, Alexander McQueen, Phoebe
Philo, Stella McCartney and Julian McDonald to name just a few.
Another
designer who has based herself in London and well worth checking out is
Canadian born Michelle Lowe-Holder.
Michelle
first came to London from her native Canada to attend the world famous
Central St. Martins college of Art and Design on a knitwear course. Since
leaving she has established herself as a talent worth reckoning with and
is now a fixture at the London Fashion Week.

A modernist designer, her pieces demand a closer look. She has made her
name by using revolutionary techniques to create beautiful clothes as
can be seen here in this laser cut gold leather top.

The leather fabric used in this stunning black dress has also been laser
cut giving it an incredible organic visual texture.
Her
training in knitwear has given her a passion for textiles, examining how
she can make it move in her designs and what she can create from it.
Every
season Michelle comes up with a concept which she then builds her
collection around.

The concept behind this gorgeous ‘pearly queen’ dress was British
wallpaper prints and is made from digitally printed silk georgette. The
collection it came from was featured in Sex & the City.
Unlike
other designers Michelle does not have any kind of woman in mind whilst
she is designing.

With her boundless creativity and enthusiasm for developing new ideas,
Michelle Lowe Holder is here to stay.
