Spain's
alternate capital, Barcelona is a millennium older than Madrid.
The region that borders France to the north and the
Mediterranean Sea to the east, Barcelona often seems to have
more in common with Marseille or Milan than with the rest of
it’s own country.
Barcelona
has long been dubbed the Great Enchantress. Little wonder: with
the bustle of the world's busiest seaport, the medieval romance
of its Gothic Quarter, Barcelona remains one of the most
beautiful and breath taking cities in Europe.
Shopping
is one of Barcelona's greatest attractions with a five kilometre
shopping strip. International chains, designer shops and modern
department stores can be found in the area around Plaça de
Catalunya, Passeig de Gracia and along the Diagonal.
